Turanj, Croatia - holiday information

Turanj, Croatia – visitor information

Turanj is a small fishing village on the coast of the Pasman channel, surrounded by an archipelago of 16 islands that you can admire from the coast, especially during sunset. It is approximately 5km away from Biograd and connected with the settlement Sveti Filip and Jakov with a charming walk board. What is good for its traffic connectivity is that the old Adriatic road passes through the village which makes it more accessible. The village is characteristic for its peaceful surroundings, nice beaches and very clean sea. Every year the cultural offer expands, attracting more and more visitors. The well thought out programme under the name of Turanj summer includes the Turanj festival and (Turanjske klapske veceri) Turanj klapa nights that are held on several occasions during the summer on the main square in front of the church. The folklore society Maslina and women’s klapa Karmel, both from Turanj, are inevitable guests. What we recommend is that you visit the already mentioned church in the centre – the Church of Our Lady of Karmel from the 15th century which is especially celebrated in this village. What is interesting about this church is that the village inhabitants believe that the church bells protect them in stormy weathers. In the vicinity you can also see an isle with a lighthouse – Babac, the church of St. Andrew (Sv. Andrija), and outside the village visit the Crni Krug lookout where a citadel from the Iron Age lies, as well the Tukljaca locality. The Church of St. Mary is located on the mentioned locality (Tukljaca) and you can reach it by hiking or taking a bicycle route. As any other coastal village, town and settlement Turanj has numerous catering facilities such as cafes, bars and restaurants. We recommend you visit the restaurants Niko, Palma and Sidro where you can treat yourselves with some of the domestic specialities and bars Menfisto and Cohiba. Accommodation is available in apartments, rooms, villas, smaller auto camps and hotels.
